12. ISTANBUL BIENNIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
Young artists from Turkey were invited to participate in an educational programme associated with the 12th Istanbul Biennial. The four-day program took place October 24-27, 2011, in collaboration with Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD. Over the course of the four days, biennial artists Nazım Hikmet Richard Dikbaş, Cevdet Erek, Martha Rosler, and Florin Tudor conducted workshops discussing works in the biennial and created new projects with the participating young artists. Following the themes of the 12th Istanbul Biennial, the focus was on the relationship between art and politics, and artworks that are both formally innovative and politically outspoken. The program was followed by a panel discussion by Nazım Hikmet Richard Dikbaş, Cevdet Erek and Martha Rosler; the curator of the 12th Istanbul Biennial, Jens Hoffmann; and the director of the visual arts department of the Berliner Künstlerprogramm of the DAAD, Ariane Beyn.
