Architect
The architectural design of the 12th Istanbul Biennial is carried out by the Office of Ryue Nishizawa. He is the manager of Ryue Nishizawa Office, founded in 1997, and cofounder (with the architect Kazuyo Sejima) of SANAA. Nishizawa and Sejima have won several awards, including the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize and the Golden Lion at the 9th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale. Nishizawa's projects with SANAA include Dior Omotesando, Tokyo (2003), Zollverein School of Management and Design, Essen (2006), the New Museum, New York (2007), and Serpentine Pavilion, London (2009). Nishizawa has been a visiting professor at Princeton University and Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is currently teaching at Yokohama Graduate School of Architecture. He was born in 1966 in Kanagawa, Japan, and studied at Yokohoma National University.
